Ut-Oh Better Get MAKO

Got our 1st keeper Mako yesterday
10 miles out SE of Moriches
at the 1st set of fingers
Pablo calls the Sharks Mouth

We set off 6 AM Chris Nappi and Mike armed with a lot of GOLD REELS
Today we had our very own Secret Sauce, Blue Fish Chum and
 Mako Magnet.
Working hard to bring a good amount of life to the boat
the 1st taker of the day was a Blue Shark

He was Feisty and I got twisted up in the cable. I didn't want to let him go all twisted up so I had to GRAB  his Tail and un wrap him. Please don't TRY this at home for it is VERY dangerous and the Shark
all most got me. I been sharking now for 20 years and they will bite
Here's the Video

BLUE SHARK at the Boat

After that we had another shark take one of the baits but he spit the hook
Then we had a Big Zip off and the balloon went zipping across the  water. I set the hook good 4 times had this little Mako 25 feet to the boat in like 2 minutes and he split the hook before I could get a Pic off
That's ok he wasn't that big
we also had 2 unidentified Sharks in the slick, 4 Run Off's, 3 Sun Fish
and tons of small silver Rain Bait and another small bait fish
leaping out of the water all day.
So here's the story.
It was late in the day we fished hard had a few sharks up and around the boat but nothing to bring home.
The Chum had just run out.
We started the engines
and pulled in the middle and short lines.
Pablo was putting away the gear
When Mike yells out
Shark at the red Balloon!!!
Chris takes the rod he has in his hand puts the VERY last
Blue Fish Filet on it and sends it back out.
Tick Tick Tick the reel goes then
ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Shark On!!!
It makes a run straight for the boat
Pablo had no time to even turn the camera on
Grab the wire Pablo!!!
I did just that and I said get a tail rope on him fast!!!
The Hook is not in far!
As I was holding the wire I could see the hook was blearily in
and Chris Got the Tail Rope on ASAP.
I got my measuring tape and It was 58"
It's Legal guys what do you want to do?
BBQ time I think was what I heard
and Mike Sunk the gaff right in the gills.
We were happy to end the day on a good note
Can't wait to eat some steaks

Yes, I thought this is going to be 1 of those days well not exactly... Kept me there for another 45 minutes casting around the terns 1.5oz white and green Blue Frog Buck tail red josh, the Bass actually hit the Spearing Teaser.

I call center yacht club we close at 4:45 PM. OH !!! I'll be right there. While I'm getting gas I get a call it's Chris (Skippy) Hey Pablo what you doing? I'm filling my tank $4.89 a gallon... Hey I have some eels and clams want to go back? Ok why not.
We made a few drifts and Chris gets his 1st Bass of the season on a clam it makes some good runs... Oh it's 27.5" so close Take a pic released.

Peter Parker called me and wanted to take out his Girl Friend and her parents today for some Fluke action . I didn't know this was the 1st time he was meeting her parents ??? Anyway we had a steady pick of short fluke today but Peter was able to manage 2 keepers and 1 Blue. We drifted for Bass with clams but had no takers. Susie got her 1st ever Fluke and Her Mom caught a nice one too. Peter you were great helping me all day. He made sure her parents were always baited up and helped out with everything. Thanks so much for the sandwich and food. Peter you are welcome on my boat from now on just give me a call. We will hit them up GOOD together this fall.

Prime Time 3 Orient

www.PrimeTime3.com
I want to 1st say that Capt. Mike did one hell of a good job landing us 12 keeper Bass a few Blues, Flukes and Porgies. Everyone caught a keeper and for a few today it was there 1st ever Bass .
Mikey Has a laid back approach which I think is GREAT. He had on da Bob Marley Man, He was always out there helping when we had a few on giving advice and cheering everyone on . This was my second trip with Mikey and won't be my last. His boat is spacious easy to move around and fish on. I know a few people from today's trip who will never forget it.

Joanne and Chris Hanley both caught there 1st EVER KEEPER BASS and Joanne was High hook At 1 point she was hooking up on every drift .

Here's Joanne and Chris's Video's

Carlos brought his son Alex on the trip he too got his very 1st Keeper bass so his Dad caught a few too

Alex's Video
Sorry Alex the video was so short?..

I think the happiest guy on the boat was Dan he also got his 1st Keeper of 2008 and he had this smile that did not leave his face

Dan's Video came out in 3 parts why? I don't know but here's the end result's

And if you haven't heard by now KAT once again caught the Pool fish to show all of up again

Kats Take on the Trip
What a Beautiful Day !

Finally went out on my first day time Orient Charter.
It was a great fishing with all the guys that I knew and have talked with so many times on this site and have met at various Noreast functions up
It took arranging two different sitters to make this possible for me but once we hit the road and the water it was a beautiful Hot summer day to go fishin' up
The scenery out there is beautiful and the light houses were picture perfect.
We fished a mixed bag and started out fluking, and then buck tailing for Bass and finished with Porgies.
I was getting very frustrated for a while because everyone was Katchin bass with Joanne leading the way even got pooped on while fluking.
Carlos's son and I were the last two to hook up with BassRoll
I told the kid that we were next...Wink and sure enough next time up we both hooked up at the same time. He got his first Keeper and I had a short...but I broke the bass skunk...up
Usually I am High Hook...which makes the guys nutz...but it was Joanne's turn this day.....You go Girl !WinkToungue
Joking around with Pablo who was teasin me all morning...Now I am ready for the Big BassToungue
Honestly another short or keeper would have been fine Smile
It was Great to see Danny get his first Bass..up
Pablo and him were on fire flukin and Porgy fishing they had the Midas touch up
Pablo continued hookin bass as well...up
Finally I got hooked up again and as you can see from the vid I knew it was a keeper...even thought I might of hooked the bottom...but they assured me to keep reelin'
Even sea Biscuit the boat mascot got up from her bed to come out and see what the fuss was about...she started scratching on my leg to see if I was alright and lickin my ankles while I was reelin the bass in Toungue

Chris Codi Jones, Fisherman George, Fisherman Walter, Eric also caught a few and so did everyone else
It was a great surprise when they said I got the pool fish....the way she beat me up was worth it...was soar all day today ! Toungue
Capt Mike was such a Pleasant, Cheerful, Funny, and quick on his feet and supportive Captain up
I got such a kick that the horn blown to drop lines was Capt Mike blowing on a Real Conche shell....LOL

It was a pleasure being on his boat up
First Mate Donny did a great job.up

A Beautiful Dragon fly paid us a visit and gave me her blessing...right after I hooked up with Pool fish! Shades
It was great fishin with all of you..up...I missed Napster, Tim and Mark tho' Frown
Walter post some of your recipes in the yum yum threadup

But the best part was getting to spend couple time all day with Pablo and seeing him gets so excited when I would hook up...
he was so proud he showed everyone my Bass at Our Pastors son's Wedding reception we attended Sunday night...Smile
Doesn't take much I guess to make a fisherman happy...LOL
Just Katch a fish Toungue

Keep KATchin' Shades

Kat

We also caught A LOT of Porgies

Thanks Vince for the Cigar

Sharking July 18 2008

Been saving my gas for the right day to go Sharking. I decided that Friday was Pablo's day and we went. Left around 6:30 Am and the breakers were all ready kicking. Wasn't bad heading out 2' to 4' waves in a SE SWELL 10 or so seconds apart but there was a slight wind chop.

I decided to head to a spot I call the Sharks Mouth. It's not on any map I nick named it because we always catch sharks there and it looks like a sharks mouth. 120' of H20 and we begin to set up shop. Exactly 9:25 am we had a Big Blue come a knocking. Actually I was re setting the deep line and wham. Shark on!!!

I let Tim have the Honors and grabbed the Video and Camera. I have to tell you the Penn International VSW 50 Lever Drag Reel did this Shark in 5 minutes and it was fighting too. WHAT A GREAT REEL! Here take a look.

Here's Tim's Shark

He went a bit nuts but I did get this cool Video of him too

After that we had two hits and went quiet for a few hours. Then at 1 PM we had another shark on. It was a small Brown Shark. I say around 50 lbs we tried like hell to get the hook out of his mouth but were unsuccessful. They have such a Beautiful Golden eyes.

We released all the sharks today and that was it.  Thanks Chris for the use of those Rods man they are GREAT! Tim good job on the reel and Poor cousin Dan wasn't feeling so good and spent most of the day in the cabin or over the side chumming LOL

Pablo has plenty of room and open dates for Sharking

Limited out in Orient again

Tuesday was a BEAUTIFUL night out in Orient. Pablo, Carlos, Cousin Dan, Chris Nappi , Rob and his Dad Big Rob all had some great weather and perfect conditions for our July trip on the Sundowner.

We started off doing something different. I asked John Please no Parachutes lets Buck Tail and eel. Big John said were going to try something different, There's been a few BIG FISH caught on BUNKER CHUNKS up to 70 LBS. I SAID LETS TO THAT!!! and so we did. Here's the Pick of the 70 LBS caught on July 4 2008

as If this wasn't enough his best friend caught a 55 LBS bass too!!!

Although It didn't beat the world record on 78.8 lbs It's by far the biggest caught this year. Here's the info from the world record Bass.

http://www.stripers247.com/seventeighteight.htm

Anyway we didn't pull any monsters that night but we did limit out with most fish around 20 lbs mark and a few to 25 lbs mark. It was a steady pick and we threw back a few. Here's the Pic's and Video's.

Peter Parker Charter

I know what your thinking Peter Parker? Isn't that Spiderman

Yes but this Peter Parker Fishes.

Picture below he's the one on the left

Peter called me the other day and asked me If Pablo would take him and his 2 Buddies out for some Bass fishing (Will holding the Bass and Mike on the right). I said sure no problem but you do know that Saturday Is the day after the 4th? It's gonna be CRAZY out there many boats... Peter said It's the only day I can go so I said ok.

We hit the inlet around 6:30 AM and to my surprise there was only maybe 5 other boats there. Mike is a Marine Taxidermy from Florida. He's never seen a Striped Bass in person. His web site is www.marinecreations.com well I said today is your Lucky day.

We started drifting Clams using a 2 oz Drail weight, 8.0 Gamakatsu hooks and 6' leader 50 lbs test. Well to make a long story short we caught so many Bass I used a 1/2 bushel of fresh Clams with double hook ups and Bass on every drift. Working the incoming tide we had a strong current and at one time 5 mph drift. It seemed the fast we drifted the more Bass we caught.

Will and Mike we stoked. I was so busy I never even caught a bass my self. It was ok because it was there 1st time every catching a Bass and Peter and I have caught MANY. After we ran out of clams we used the scrapes and even they were working... As the tide started to die we moved over to the mussel beds and started fluking. Peter caught a fluke right off the bat and Will was casting a Yozuri Crystal Minnow and hooked up on 2 more bass. Well we all started throwing them and landed a few more. We moved to 7w and tried fluking there more short Fluke and more Bass. Then we see a Sea Robin floating on the surface, I think the boat next to us caught it and released it? It was trying to revive itself and a Big Bass was trying to inhale it. I saw the Robin spread it's wings and the bass fin was right behind it like a shark. I cast my minnow right onto the commotion but no hook up's.  Peter tried to no luck. We tried to move over to the Robin but it either got away or was devoured

After that we called it a day and headed in.

Total Bass for the Day I'd say over 2 dozen up to 27.5"

we just missed the keeper but MEGA action for 2 new Bees

They LOVED it look at the smiles

Peter you and the guys were great thanks for the breakfast special and see you soon

Afternoon Trip

Fishing with Kat, Sharon and Bob

Pablo Had only a short time to fish with Kat today 1:30 to 3:30 PM. So I asked Bob and Sharon if they wanted to join us for 2 hours they said sure. Bob brought a few cold one and so we set off to some fertile grounds, armed with clams and Buck tails. I went right back to the spot where they were biting this morning and we tried a few drifts casting around but only managed 1 hit for Pablo. So I quickly switched over to Clam's and Kat was on in less than a minute. Here's her video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUQt6kqcvII

Well after that it was like a comedy show Bob and Pablo let the women fish and we played captain and 1st mate. Let's see we caught a Giant Spider Crab lol.  Also a old fishing pole incrusted with barnacles lol. Oh yeah and the Bottom... but Kat did Manage 2 Bass (released) and Sharon 1 Blue perfect size for Shark Bait.  After Bob's 6 pack ran out so did our time and we headed back to the barn. Hey Bob we'll have to plan a little better and get out with the women again. IT WAS A BLAST HA HA HA

July 3 2008

Headed out 5 Am armed with Clams. Drifted the Inlet with no takers. Decided to try west cut and Dean got 1 on a clam. Marking Heavily I decided to stay in that area. I tried a storm shad, no good.  Switched to 1.5oz Blue Frog Buck Tail White/Green red Uncle Josh Trailer. Here's the kicker I had one of Harvey's teasers on and Dean was using the exact same rig but NO TEASER. I slammed 5 Bass in a row and Dean had none. I tell him to tie on a Teaser he slams 2 in a row. At 8 Am Slack Tied we decide to head in go to work. Sorry No Pic's you all know what a 27" Bass looks like. Anyway we ended the morning with 9 Bass up to 27" Light tackle action is a blast

Dan and Chris

Ok 2nd Report Had out Cousin Daniel and Chris July 2. We set out around 9 Am to Bass and Fluke. We get to the Inlet and who's waving at us? Dean. It seems he took a HUGE wave on his Wave runner and broke his mirror and Motor Mounts

We toed him  now it's 10:30 I thought well that just killed our chances for bass boy was I wrong.  Drop a Clam in 1 minute Chris on, then Dan, Then Chris, Double headers till noon. Then a Storm with thunder and Lighting Is getting close to us. So we decide to bail and left them biting total around 8 or so losing an additional 2.
