remove. That's ok Cary say's Dinner for me

I'm talking about NOW is the time to hit the BASS and BLUES. This week coming will be a great week of fishing like no other. Possible be the best for 2008 season. Just like last year the fish came in hard into the Moriches area and I took full advantage of the situation. PUT the yard work off!!! TAKE a SICK day, something... Because as fast as it starts it turns off. like today for example. 1st Keeper Bass of 2008
Sunday Morning 5 AM I look out my
window I see no wind I say to Myself YEAH BABY!!! So I call Capt. Bill No go
Joe he says blowing down here Ok so now I say I'm calling Johnny Keeper. Johnny it's Pablo how's it looking out side? Good enough to fish he says. You want to go? HELL YEAH Johnny says. I'll see you at the boat 5:45 AM. Now I knew with this front approaching we have a window of opportunity of 2 hours before the rain and so we hit the one of my spots by 6 AM and by the 3rd cast were both into fish. Great way to start the Morning!!! Pablo gets his 1st Keeper of 2008 and Johnny is soon to follow.
We nail 1 DOZEN FISH in 22 MINUTES no

land another DOZEN LOL!!! By 8 AM Johnny and Pablo had enough of the wind
against tide and said lets get going. I got to get to church and drop off some
fresh Bass steaks to Pastor Mike and Johnny has to drop off some Blue fish to
his friends and meet someone for a Painting Estimate. Oh if you don't know

good Painter send me an e mail I'll give you Johnny's Number Any way our total for 2 hour of fishing were around 8 Bass each and I don't know how many Blues??? My guess is around 24 or so being on the low side of course.

Captain
Paul Peluso A.K.A Pablo April 25 2008 Noreast Tog Seminar 80 Keepers!!!
Today was one hell of a GREAT day of FISHING. I was asked to Video the Noreast Tog Seminar again. Boy am I glad I did. Not just because we caught 80 KEEPER TOG. Not because The weather was so great. Not because of PABLO WON THE POOL!!! But because of the great people that were there.
Let me start out with saying how welcome you feel on
the Celtic Quest. Capt Desi boat is THE BEST on the North shore as far as
Pablo's concerned. Not only did he take us out today he allowed everyone to
see how he does it. Which included anchoring, electronics', his personal
knowledge of Tog Fishing and more... You can catch a lot of fish aboard his
boat check them out at
www.CelticQuestFishing.com tell him Pablo sent ya!!!
1st mate Capt. Chris was did a great job too. We kept
him very busy today but he also had 5 other Captains helping him out as well.
Captain Mike Marks and Capt. Steve were top notch at
explaining the do's and don't of Togging. They pretty much went over
everything from A to Z on Tog's. Here's Capt Mike's Home page
http://home.earthlink.net/~marks66/ I shot a lot of video and I'll get it
up on
www.Noreast.com very soon. Thanks Mike and Steve for putting together I
think the BEST HAND'S on seminar once again. Not only do they talk about it
you get to try out there teachings right there what's better than that?
Capt. Jerry McGrath showed us the
different kinds of Rig's to use for the different types of bottom. Soft or
Sticky there were many different kinds you can use. Then he explained the
different types of bait's and when, where's and how's to use the correctly. He
also brought with him his personal Hermit Crab Catcher. What's that, you say?
Well it's kind of an under water plow that skims the bottom in search of Hermit
Crab's. It was very eye opening in deed. Also he went around and did a Hands on
Knot Tying to show us all how to do it. Thank you Capt. Jerry. I think Jerry is
the only person I know with more stories than Pablo
Capt. Jerry Teaches at a fishing school and also runs trips to Alaska... Here's his Link to Alaska Fishing Also Here's Capt. Jerry's Learn how to fish web site www.sportfishingadventures.net
My good Friend Capt. Neil Faulkner brought his Custom
Rod's and I brought mine from last years excursion too. Let's just say Capt.
Neil's rod helped me land that POOL WINNING fish with no trouble at all. His
Long Islander Series rods are very reasonable, tough but sensitive. You can
look up Capt. Neil's Rod building on his site
http://members.aol.com/captneilf/fishrods/main.htm
Tell him to make you one Like Pablo's Also I got to meet a lot of the other
Members like Seamomster (Laurie + Dave), Capt. Dennis of
http://www.huntfishny.com/ Also Rob and his new co worker from Noreast as
well as many others I'm sorry if I can't remember everyone's name I have brain
damage Anyway Here's all the Pictures and I should have the Video's up and running soon. Sorry for such a long report but I learned so much today and really Had a Ball. Once again POOL FISH!!! YEAH BABY!!!
I Have many more Photo's of the days Catch I'll make a slide show and get it up soon April 24 2008 1st Blues of the season I knew the Fish would bit was on, so the next morning 6 AM Dean, Laura and Pablo went back to the same areas and hit 4 more Bass up to 27" All most a keeper. Then we went outside to the ocean but had no luck so we decided to try the back of the inlet and Wham-O we hit 4 nice size Blues. By 8 :30 am the wind picked up and that was it. there was a lot of sea WEED both days and we had a ball on light action poles again. water temps were 58/59 both days sunny and calm. Here's Laura's 1st ever BLUE FISH video So if you want to get into some light action Blues and Bass give me a call 631-433-6220
Both Laura and Pablo made the Noreast Issue with there Catch of big BLUES http://www.noreast.com/magazineissues/photo.cfm?im=2034&i=137&e=3&s=266&a=2105&p=1 http://www.noreast.com/magazineissues/photo.cfm?im=2035&i=137&e=3&s=266&a=2105&p=1
April 23 2008 1st Bass of the season Two reports guys sorry for the delay.
Wed Capt. Bill and Pablo headed out 3 PM in search of some Bass action. I knew
that the fish would be around because when the pear trees turn white the fish
start to bite. We landed 4 Bass up to 25". We tried a few spots before we were
able to find them but we had a good time on light action poles Yozuri Crystal Minnows and Storm Shads were the ticket. I shot a nice video of some of the action. Click the link below to view the Video. April 19 2008 Pablo and the Mt. Sinai Pirates
A-Vast Ye Hearties!!!
For you are about to hear a tail
that no man has ever heard...
One time Capt. Pablo was Marooned on a dessert Island
he found a Treasure Map.
Aaahhh Yes a Treasure Map...
So what was Capt. Pablo Going to do you ask?
One time Capt. Pablo was Marooned on a dessert Island
he found a Treasure Map.
Aaahhh Yes a Treasure Map...
So what was Capt. Pablo Going to do you ask?
set sail to find his Booty!!!
But 1st I need to in list a few swabs so I called apon
me's old
Friend Capt. Cary and his Boys
with My trusty 1st mate Paul Anthony the sergeant of
arms
the boys would be kept in line
![]() ![]() ![]()
Now with Capt. Pablo the Pirate pointing the way it
didn't take long to find the Island.
Once there Isaac checked the map and we made our way
through the swampy terrain.
And not long after that the boys noticed an Abandon
Ship Wreck
just left there for the taking...
The Boys Quickly made there way over to her and Stormed the Ship
What Treasure would this Galleon bring us?
GOLD, DIAMONDS, SPICES???
But soon our dreams of Wealth and Gold were not to be had on this day
How ever we did find the RUM!!!
It was a glorious day and the crew was happy with what they found
3 Cheers for Capt. Pablo they Yelled!!!
Hip Hip Hurray!!!
But mean while Capt Pablo and Cary had other plans
While the crew was busy looting the ship Cary and I would double back on them and dig up the real Gold!!!
AHHHH a few dozen Steamers, clams and some worms were
what we were after. If we couldn't fill our pockets we were going to fill our
bellies!!!
This plan of action didn't go over so well and soon we
had a bunch of angry Pirates on our hands
Well it didn't take long of Cary and I to realize we
haven't a chance against such Mean Pirates
So we Split the Loot 5 ways and Shoved off for home.
Before they made us walk the plank...
And dat there is the story of Pablo and Mt. Sinai Pirates

The boys could wait to get back on the water so we hit
the bay today around 3 PM. We tried all our regular spots and a variety of
different lures but no takers. We made our way over to the inlet strong out
going tide water temp 46- 49 foggy light winds. Marked huge schools of bait...
saw about 100 Gannets working the breakers got right on them but no hits, no
errors. Saw MANY SEALS tried for the photo opp but they would dive as soon as
we got close. Didn't have any Sabikki rigs or cast net with me. Loading the
boat tomorrow with everything. Anyway it was good to be on the Ocean with my
buddies again working the breakers back to dock by 5:30 PM. May try again
tomorrow AM...

216844 NE 22771 MM 6306 Clicks April 5 2008 Splash Down
Well it's finally here!!! The Mama Mia made her splash down yesterday and after a little tweaking I'm happy to report she is, Running FINE!!!
Saturday Late Afternoon, I had the Pablonians out for the 1st trip of 2008. The Kids had a ball running all over checking everything out and of course Mia wanted every Fishing Lure I had on the boat, Hee, Hee, Hee.
Mama Got herself a New Pole and wanted to try it out so
we tried a few spots but had no luck.
I been hearing of some Schoolies caught by the Bridge Capt Bill nailed 3 earlier that morning. I Tried out an idea I had. I took a permanent Red and Yellow Marker and colored the tails of a few Storm Shads. I'm sure this idea will work just not that night.
It was really nice to be back out on the water again
that evening was B-U-T-FULL!!! No wind and it was glass calm we cruised
around till the sun set and had a good time. I did catch one Giant Eel by the
dock in the Minnow Trap. Not sure how to cook em might bring him to my
favorite Sushi Guy any suggestions?

After seeing this
Consideration of the American Eel for Endangered
Species Act Protection
I decided to release that Eel since It was to big to
use as bait. The picture doesn't show the reel size of it but it was the
BIGGEST Eel I ever saw!!!

BEST FISHES!!!
213124 NE 21592 MM 6276 Clicks March 21 2008 Last Stop U.S.A. Last Stop U.S.A.? Pablo, where's that? Let's just say I swore an oath to the secret society of surf fishing and not able to give out such privileged information to just anybody. But, I am allowed to say on the Hudson. So this is where my 1st Bass trip of the year will begin for the 2008 season. I was invited to go fishing on Good Friday from Vince and Mikey fellow members from www.Noreast.com . Picture here
I spoke with Mikey and he was telling me the bite was on come on up here. So we being Timmy and Pablo met Mikey and we were fishing by 7 AM. Where's Vince? Pablo said, He's running a little late. We set up and Mikey has a Flat of Blood Worms and Sand Worms. The winds were BLOWING 30 MPH plus gusting to 40 at times. We had our poles set up in holder and were all seating in the car with the heat on. We were watching our pole tips but the winds kept bowing our lines making it hard to see the hits. Plus the water temp was cold and the fish were lethargic. They would just come over and ever so gently pull the worm off the hooks.
This went on for a hour or so. Then I was getting a good hit on my pole then nothing so I figured they stole my bait. As I was reeling it in my line started to get heavy and it felt like I had a fish... About 10 yards out I see I accidentally hooked the retired Cop's line next to mine. He wasn't mad he said no problem and started to reel his line in. All of a sudden he had a 20" Bass on the line the whole time and never knew it. He asked if we wanted it. Vince said sure I'll have it for dinner. I looked at Tim and said, I ain't eating that it looks like it's glowing, being a golden light color not the usual colors I see. Now before you go crazy Hudson regulations are 18" for keepers roughly 5 lbs. SO IT'S LEGAL!!! The retired Cop I forgot his name was
a reel nice guy he was showing us all the huge fish he caught including I
think 42 Lbs Bass, 17 lbs Blue fish and I think 30 lbs Carp. Anyway they were
all big fish and he had quite a few pictures too. Later he also landed another
Bass around the same size and released it. He offered it again but we said but
it back.
The gentleman to the right of us, John his name was also caught 2 keeper bass tagging and releasing both of them. Mikey says he Tag + Release's all his fish and has over 1500 tags out there. He also came over and said hello. Well we were down to the power hour and the sun warned it up just enough that if you hid behind the rocks you were able to shelter your self from the wind. So we all got down and gave it our best for about 1 hour and packed it up at 1 PM. Mikey later called me told me a total of 7 Bass were caught that day not bad considering the conditions. I could sense Mikey wanted us to at least catch 1 but I told him I had no doubt that if there was no wind we would have caught fish and we had several hits and a good time smoking some nice Cuban Cigars and hanging out for a few hours. It felt so good to be by the water and casting out I really didn't care fish would have been a bonus. Vince gave me a Nicaraguan Cigar that
was good But the Romeo y Julieta on the ride home was even better Thanks Vince
Here's a few more pic's were not lazy were hiding from the wind!!!
Hello Everyone, NEW YORK SPORTFISHING FEDERATION 26th ANNUAL SPORTFISHING FORUM & AUCTION February 15, 16 & 17, 2008I just wanted to let everyone know there will be a Fishing Expo and Free Seminar's coming up in a 2 weeks. There are Several Great Captains giving out priceless information on many topic's. Also this show has some of the best tackle shops involved giving great prices on there stuff. I know I'll be there. Here's the info Link to the show.
Ok so here's my take on the show. Friday I went around 12 noon to help my web site guy Joe Felicia out with setting up and lending him a hand. If you don't know Joe, he's a good fisherman and has been running this show for years now. Hey if anyone is thinking about a web site check out WebByJoe.com , He takes care of my site along with many other fishing and non fishing people. Celtic Quest Just for an example. Ok so Because I got there so early I was able to talk to a lot of the vendors. The 1st guy I saw was (say this in a loud voice) CAPTAIN KAYAK Very Interesting too many things to list here. I'm sure BIGSHOW would have loved to have seen this. Anyway he also runs a charter business out of Shinnecock and you can rent one of these kayaks and try them out. I'm actually going to try this out this spring. If anyone wants more info on this click Captain Kayak, Tell him Pablo sent ya
They were discussing
commercial fishing and the tog regulations for the coming year. Just as things
were getting a bit to serious KAT comes over in her new waders and Boots from
Oyster Bay Marine Supply. She of course steals all the attention and I snap a
few pic's of her. Lep couldn't even remember what he was talking about
After that I went over
found a few good deals on some Rubber shads talked to Capt. Jerry McGrath
about Alaska Fishing and never made it back to any of the other great Seminars
I missed. However I did run into a few more Fellow Noreasters, Chris
(Napster), Cary (Sealion), John Skimmer, and a few more I can't remember all
the names. All I can say is if you haven't gotten down to the show you have 1
more day left. Crazy Alberto and Capt. Andy Locassio are the seminar speakers
for tomorrow starting at 10 am. Doors open at 8 so get down there. The live
auction is always great
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Jan 10 2008 Herring in Mt. Sinai
Hello Everyone and Happy New Year! Well the boats all wrapped up and sitting on blocks at Patchogue Shore's Marina www.PatchogueShoresMarina.com . But on New Years eve I was treated to a Jar of my friend Cary's Pickled Herring, and I have to tell you it was GOOD! So I've been meaning to get down to Mt. Sinai Harbor and get some more and with this weeks temps I did just that. So here's how it went. The Herring run on the south shore was all most non existent this fall and I was disappointed to say the least. So I set out to get my fill of these delicious Herring. Now I've been told that just before sunset they come into the Harbor and make a few runs past the docks chasing spearing and if your lucky you can catch a few. I made sure I got down there and armed with my Light Fishing Pole and Sabikki rig I was ready to go. For those of you that do not know what a Sabikki rig is, It's a rig consisting of 4 or 5 small Sharp hooks about 3' long. Here's a picture of 3 types I like to use. You can get them at any tackle shop.
Now I also like to include a Glow Light or Lunker light. This helps attract the fish to your hook especially when it gets dark out. I picked up mine at Rocky Point Tackle shop or any Party store or for 1 dollar too. It's a very simple kind of fishing you just add a 1 or 2 oz weight on the end and jig the rig up and down off the bottom. With any luck you'll get enough to make a jar or 2 of Pickled Herring. Also you may want to add a Dodger. What's that? It's a thin piece of sheet metal or Aluminum cut out to look like a Herring about 6" long will do just fine. Add it to the top of your rig and drop it down and jig them up.
I was able to land a few the 1st night out and a few more the 2nd night but the 3rd night all I got was a few hits but that was it. However the guys down on the docks were extremely nice and since most of them caught 1 or 2 they gave me there catch and I had a total of 15 to make a few jars.
I followed Cary's Recipe and hopefully in a week I'll be eating a perfect snack of fresh Pickled Herring YUM YUM. Here's the recipe for anyone interested.
There's a few spots on the Island you can catch these
Herring Magnolia Pier is one hot place to visit here's a link to that place http://www.striperonline.com/magnolia_pier.htm
Tides and timing is everything so you may want to check
with a tide chart before you head down and check the reports on
www.Noreast.com or other publications for up to date reports. This week
with the Full moon and High tides should be a great time to catch a few for
your self.
