Shinny Slowing down
I was going to hit Moriches in the AM but,
when I woke up it was raining out.
I decided to sleep instead
I called my Buddy Chris Nappe
we decided to hit Shinny since it's been
Well it wasn't exactly the slam fest we been having.
But we did manage 2 Keepers and 5
Shorts
Funny 2 keepers and 5 Shorts is slowing
down, lol...
![]()
Chris Invited his Buddy Ken Walter out. Ken caught
3 short bass and his 1st Shinnecock Keeper
Ken also caught a Fishing Pole
As for me 1, 31" and 1 short
Chris caught the rest but sadly no keeper
We weren't marking any bait yesterday Afternoon
Smoking my cigar
![]()
I said to Chris I bet all the bait went towards the
Inlet...
I actually said watch tomorrow we'll read a report
all the fish were out side in the Ocean.
Sure enough I woke up and BAM!!!
There it was all the Bass moved outside
I called Chris and were going to head out later
today
Hopefully we'll be able to
Slay the Bass
Thanks again Chris for Yesterday 5 to 8 Pm

Thursday afternoon 3:30 PM I get a call fro Chris Nappi
Pablo want to go
Sure as long as it doesn't rain
DON'T FORGET THE COFFEE!!!
Grabbed my full gear just in case and off we went
Stopped at 7-11 and got some HOT COFFEE
![]()
We had incoming tide and a stiff 20 mph east wind
that was all good because it was wind with tide
How ever it made getting into the strike zone a bit
hard
But some how we managed to land
12 Bass, 2 keeper's
Chris was RED HOT LANDING 8 and both keepers
Pablo landed 4 1 just short
As you can see Chartreuse was the color
being overcast and water clarity wasn't that good
Chartreuse 1.5 oz Blue Frog Buck Tail with Yellow was
deadly
Here's the Video's
DOUBLE HOOK UP
Chris's Keeper
The Sun was going down and the wind just kept getting stronger We headed back in and filet the fish and finished our
7-11 Coffee
EVERY CUP COUNTS Thanks Chris for another Great Time

both hooking up with a Keeper Bass
So here's the story
I got up and was out of my house by 5:30 Am
Stopped at 7-11 got my coffee and started to
set up for the days trip
7-11 has such good coffee
it makes the sunrise that much more pleasant
The night before I loaded my holding pen with some
Pea-Nut Bunkers
It didn't take long before Mike had our 1st customer
Click Picture below to view Video
Mike landed a nice 29.5" Bass he was stoked
Shortly after that Jason also gets his Keeper
click picture below to view video
a nice 29" Fat Keeper Bass for Jason
Jason also landed a his 1st Keeper Fluke
it was released because Fluke season is now closed
Maybe it was Luck, or maybe it was that Jason had
A NEW BORN SON, GAVIN, YESTERDAY
but he also caught a Blue too
We'll time was running out and the work phones started
to ring so we called it a day and
headed back to the dock
Back at the dock I filet the fish and
finished my Coffee...
Hey I still have about 25 Nice and lively baits for
tomorrow

5 to 1
Monday afternoon I called Chris Nappi.
Hey Chris I'm in your neighborhood, it's out going
I was just about to head out Pablo lets go
It didn't seem that windy but when we got down to the
water
IT WAS BLOWING
At 1st Pablo connected with a small Bass
and Chris hooked a Monster Blue Fish
looks like it's going to be one of those days
But it was wind against tide big time
and made it real hard to get your buck tail in the
strike zone
It was over cast so I went with a
1.5 oz Chartreuse (green)
Blue Frog Buck tail
with Yellow Uncle Josh Trailer
Chris was on White and green with yellow
at 1st I couldn't find the rhythm.
What's the rhythm you say?
The rhythm is the speed in which you have to turn the
handle
on your reel to keep the buck tail in the strike zone,
being just off the bottom.
Many cast were coming up empty or loaded with cabbage
I had to play dangerously close with the bottom but
after a while
Pablo On!!!
Got this 28" bass
No big deal but look at my hair that's how strong the
wind was blowing
I told Chris throw into the current and
hardly reel or not at all
I hook up again but it was Hard
Chris can't seem to get it and decides to throw up
stream
and work it back towards the boat.
This wasn't a very good idea and produced no fish for
him
I landed 4 Ribbing Chris every time I landed one
I even threw up stream and landed one Micro Bass
We move over to a different spot its dark now
I caught 5 bass 1 keeper
Chris had 1 big blue
He says it has to be the Chartreuse color
I said maybe but the water was crystal clear
it's the strike zone I told him we needed
1.75 oz or 2 oz buck tails which neither of us had
this was a last minute trip...
Go a head use my buck tail
Bam Chris lands a KEEPER and he's on the board
Total 6 Bass 2 keepers
1 Big Blue
Steaks for both of us
Good times and more learning experience
I'll bet Chris picks up a couple of
Chartreuse color buck tails today
I took the blue pic with Chris's camera so
I only had that 1 pic sorry.

Smooching with the Fishes
Ok your not gonna believe this...
Wed evening I went looking for some Pea-Nut Bunkers
I netted about 100 and these 2 fish above
There Mullet I believe and here's the funny part
I placed all the fish from my cast net into the well
and closed the top
When Pablo got back to the dock
I opened the lid and this Fish Leaped right out at me
Smacking me right on the mouth
all I saw was the RED FISH LIPS
Leaping right at me HAhahahahaha!!!
Pablo jumped about 6 feet in the air
I took this picture of them and sent them back
Am Charter with Mike
Thur Morning Mike and Pablo
set off to the inlet armed with fresh Peanuts and Buck
tails
We tried every where but were unable to connect with
any fish
Until 9:00 Mike's Peanut got inhaled by a FLUKE
We Released it and then he got a Sea Robin too
Our Beautiful Pea-Nuts just weren't working
So I switched to a
Chartreuse Blue Frog 1.5 oz Blue Frog Buck Tail
with Yellow Josh Trailer
Pablo lands a shorty but at least avoids the SKUNK
![]()
But that fish gave away the spot for the very next
drift
Mike got his keeper Bass 29.5"
and we went Home Happy
Mike took home some Fat Steaks and he'll be
EATING GOOD TONIGHT FOR SURE
Here was the deadly combo's used today
We'll after that I get a call from Chris Nappi
Pablo Bonito's Blitzing out side!!!
Did a 180 on sunrise and off too Shinny
1st we tried our spot on the way out
NO-FISH
1st time that happened
guess Moriches wasn't the fish weren't biting
So then we headed to the Ocean
what do we see a
MEGA BLITZ
I shot this video of it
click the picture to view video
Pablo and Nappi were able to land as many blues as
you wanted
and we did land Several
But we wanted the Bonitos today
However that fish had other plans
and we didn't land one
Ocean looks like its going to be rough tomorrow
So I'm not going out
Got a Saturday AM trip with
Capt Barbara (OMD)
Kat and I can't wait...
Hey Fishing is really starting to heat up I expect
Next week to be even better
call or email Pablo today
so you too can get some of these fish

Got a call yesterday from my buddy Dave (Arrestspot).
Hey Pablo, man you been hitting the Bass up pretty good lately.
Thanks Dave why, you want to go
Yeah but lets use my boat
I'm OK with that see you at 6 AM
we meet down at the boat and notice
some bait fish jumping around the canal
Lets throw the net
We try but I think the bait was Spearing
Because I threw it right on them and got nothing
1st time that happened???
Anyway Dave had about 25 in his well and
we didn't want to waste to much time
Off to the Inlet we go
As soon as we got there we had Birds working
and we both pitched out our Pea-Nuts
I have another Rod rigged up
with a 1.25 oz White Blue Frog Buck Tail with Yellow
Josh Trailer
All of a sudden the water Boils right next to the boat
I grab the rod throw and
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
Pablo On!!!
31" Bass what a way to start the day
![]() ![]()
After that we both Landed several Short Bass
and Dave's Peanut bunker actually caught a Fluke
Which was Immediately released
and a HUGE Sea Robin
I shot this video of Dave's
Catch and Release of 1 of his Bass below
just click the picture to view it
click the picture to view
It was on from 6 to 7 am then we had a few between
7 to 9 AM and all of a sudden the back of the inlet
Erupted and we made a mad dash for the Bass
but NG
The Total was 6 for the AM
with 1 Keeper
6 to 10 AM

Filling up the well
On Tuesday I went to J+H Tackle
and bought a live Bait holding tank
I couldn't wait to fill it.
Called Dean and Carlos to come down and give me a hand
Dean showed up with Laura and we went up and down the
canal and I made 4 casts with the net and we
filled the live well and the bait holding tank
too
Of course now that I had all that bait I just had to
take a ride out to see If there
any interested customers
It didn't take long to find some.
![]() ![]()
Laura and Pablo both had Bass right off the bat
Both were just shy of keeper size 28"
so they wee safely returned to the sea
After that we went hit less for the rest of the trip
We were out there from say 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Wed Morn
Had out Chris (CodiJones) for a 6 AM trip
Took about 25-30 Peanuts and headed off to the inlet
Drifted the inlet from the front to back
MEGA CABBAGE!!!
So much we couldn't keep the baits clean
So I decided to pitch around the back of the inlet
with a
1.25 oz white Blue Frog Buck Tail with Yellow Josh
trailer
Bam Pablo On!!!
It was a short Bass but at least it was a fish
We drifted around to the west cut and
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz
Pablo bait got taken
27.5" Bass looked exactly like the picture above lol
Also Chris had a run off and he caught a 21" Fluke
We immediately RELEASED IT for fluke season is closed
After that we headed back out
side to see if our luck would be better
We both hooked up with a few short Bass
Chris had a big one on a lot of
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ'S
it popped off half way through the fight
Here's Chris Short Video of one he landed
Pablo also landed a few too
![]() ![]()
Tide and time running out we called it a day and
headed home
We totaled 6 Bass for the trip
and I still have plenty of bait in the holding tank
for future use

Another Banner Night in Shinny
While I was dropping Chris off at the dock he says to
me Shinny tonight
I say HELL YEAH I need to get me some fish
So we made plans to meet at the dock say 9 PM ish.
We knew exactly where they
be stacked up at the bottom of a slope.
Chris had caught some Pea-nut bunkers
earlier that day,
I said were not gonna need them tonight
It was a very Humid night, there was a slight breeze
coming from the west,
it felt good on Pablo's sun burnt face.
The air smelt of
salt and pea nut bunker, fowl to most, but sweet to Pablo's nose
His hands hurt from fishing all day
You could hear a fish slap the water from a mile away
His new white 1.25 oz White Buck Tail SHARP as if it was forged by GIN-SU
himself
He choose a Yellow josh trailer to match the hew on the
ever so present bait around him.
His rod long and steady as he waited for the perfect
timing to deploy his deadly combo
Slowly he turned the handle, ever, so, SLOWLY,
just enough to slightly tap the
bottom but
fast enough to escape the cabbage and sea weed traps
Then with a big tug on his line all you heard was ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
And Pablo's battle cry Pablo On!!!
The
fish fought hard trying to escape it's demise.
She made a last second run at
the boat
but that hook was set deep in the side of her mouth
and all she could
do was surrender to the pull of Pablo's rod
Now that the fish was subdued and packed in ice
Pablo spoke these words that will ever echo in the
night air of Shinnecock...
FOREVER
CAN WE GO HOME NOW!!! hahahahhahahahahhaha!!!
We'll we did a few more drifts and
John and Chris also got there keepers 1 on an Eel
and the other another victim of the
deadly 1.25 Blue frog White buck tail w/Yellow
josh trailer.
Thanks for another GREAT night in Shinny Chris

So I decided to make a 5:30 AM call because of the
weather
called all my friends no one called back
I tried for 1/2 hour to throw the net but by myself it
was no good
So Pablo set off alone to the inlet
In the west cut there was a guy there catching BASS
like CRAZY on Peanuts
I tried for 2 hours for nothing
Then Chris Nappi calls me
Pablo I'm on the way bud
I pick him up at Union ave dock
and with 1 throw of my net we had 30 Pea-Nut Bunkers in
the well
![]()
So we went right back to the West cut

Fluke Season Finale
Dave's Video Click Picture Below
Had out Dave for a full day Charter
I thought this was going to be a BANNER DAY
I think the swells in the ocean mixed up
the visibility. Because a keeper was hard to come by
Dave's Video Click Picture Below
Water clarity was Superb the past few days resulting in
many keepers.
Today we only landed 2
Which was good compared to some others
Huge School's of Anchovies were all over the place especially in Montauk the whole 1st week of sept
Plenty of Keeper Bass and Blues
Good Buddies Carlos, Alex and his friend also were out
Carlos looked every where for his keeper
It wasn't till I called him over and said there right
here
He managed 1 Keeper!!!
Also saw Jan and Peter Parker sorry no pic
![]()
The Rosie came over to us in the afternoon I saw my
friend
Joe aka Crabman hook up on a fish
I worked my spot hard using short drifts
over and over the spot
I think we did the best by sticking to the
game plan
Most other guys drove around from spot to spot
catching nothing
It wasn't the way I would have liked to go out but,
with the Fluke Season we've been having
NO COMPLAINT'S FROM PABLO
Can't wait for next year
