Season Closer

While Santa was checking his list
Pablo went out 1 more time looking for that last
Bass
6 am it was a toasty 32 degrees but without a breeze
I was fine and headed to the Inlet.

The morning started out very Promising flat calm and
Birds all over
After 3 hours of drifting and casting every where
I was about done
Then Mama calls hey what's it like out there well
its flat calm and no fish
She says that's because I'm not there pick me up
 |

So I pick up the Mama and now its the start of out
going and the
mouth of the inlet gets real bumpy
How you doing Mama? Ok we make several drifts
through some real rough water with it coming in my
back door
The 2 bilge pumps were constantly going on and off
and finally cut out
I was unsuccessful trying to revive them
So we opted for calmer waters

We headed east to Copsogue Beach and landed 2 blues
on Diamond Jigs
At least we avoided the Skunk
After that we headed back to the Inlet and we were
so tired of casting
we tried trolling the diamond Jigs
and BAM Mama's On!!!

? I'm
not sure she says there's a lot of head shaking 
I watched ready with the net just in case
after hours of casting and drifting all over any
fish would have been nice
but a bass would have made the day.
So with a little Christmas Magic

She landed this Striped Bass
|
|
Even though she was just short we decided any fish
caught today
were going back.
We snapped a few pics and off she went

THE PRESIDENTIAL PARDON

Well I had no plans of heading out Thanksgiving
Morning
But when I woke up I saw there was 0 wind
I new my buddies were all heading out
I text messaged Jr he never went home from the day
before
After he went fishing with me he went straight out
to Montauk
Spent the whole night fishing and slept in his car
and you guys think I'm nuts LOL!!!
Anyway he says the Ocean is flat calm go!!!
I Literally paced around for 5 mins and said
I'm never going to be able to go back to sleep now just
go for 3 hours
Next thing I'm in the car texting everyone I know to
join me
No-body answered the call or they were all ready
heading out too...
I hit the inlet and after hearing the Bass
were by
the east jetty the day before, my 1st cast was right
by the east jetty
ZZZZZZZZZZZZ Pablo On!!!
2nd Cast ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Pablo On again
this went on and on till I hit 26
fish
I was fishing along side 2 other boats
1 guy was catching like me the other was a father
and son team
the boy must have been around 10 years old
I noticed they weren't hooking up
I yelled across try a Diamond Jig with green tube!
I don't have any he yells back!
Really? Come over here I have an extra one for you
they move over I hand them 2 brand new Jigs
and I saw them catch at least 2 Bass and the boy's Rod
was bent over
This made me real happy
When they were done that hailed me on the radio and
asked me if
I wanted the Jigs back?
I said no keep them for next time
They wished me a Happy Thanksgiving and all
I really felt good helping them catch some fish!!!
As for me it was light action tackle
all on A-27 Diamond jig with Green tube fast
retrieve
on my custom Capt. Neil Rod
water was 50 degrees, sand eels still all over
a few keepers.
Being it was Thanksgiving I gave all the Bass a
Presidential Pardon and released them for next year
I also left the camera at home on the charger

be eating Bass Tomorrow

Jr and I headed out 1st light today.
I took a look at the next few day fore cast and
said we better go now for it doesn't look so good.
We started out drifting Eels for nada
then we switched over to Chartreuse (Green) 2.5 oz
Buck Tail with red Josh
and whacked 6 bass with 2 keepers
28" and 31"
After the out going tide tied we tried all over but
was unsuccessful
Breakers were mean, Ocean was good
water temp 49/50
1' or less visibility very dirty water
Both bass stuffed full of sand eels again.
nothing on Diamond Jigs???
No birds
bait in ocean was very scattered
Saw 3 seals oh no???
Tried Sabikki rigs for herring nada

Pablo's Back
Was away on Vacation all last week. heard there was
a bad Nor'easter and it washed away a lot of sand from
Smith's Point Beach
Wow must have washed 10' of sand away exposing all the supports I never saw anything like it???
Hit the Bay 6 Am today worked all the regular spots no love headed to the Inlet
incoming tide 6:30 am drifted Eels no love
saw birds working out side water temps 50/51
tried out side eels no love until I switched over to 3oz Buck Tail with Red and Yellow Josh
then I caught 8 Bass 6 were keeper to high teen
I released all but 1 33"
Felt great to be back home catching again!!!
Good friend Byron also landed this Keeper on a live bunker
